BFEE Scholarship Offerings

These scholarship's are non-renewable and awarded only to a graduating senior at Batavia High School. 
  • Sam R Rotolo Scholarship - $1000 To be awarded to a student pursuing a degree in Education at a four-year college/university.
  • Megan Reed Scholarship - $1000 To be awarded to a student pursuing a degree in Communication.
  • Thomas Schmitz Scholarship - $1000 To be awarded to a student who appreciates this community and will make an effort to also give back.
  • Molly Mae Vance Memorial Scholarship - $1000 To be awarded to a student pursuing a degree in public service.
  • Michael Arthur Bonifas Memorial Scholarship - $1500 To be awarded to a first-generation college student.
  • William Freiburger Memorial Scholarship - $2000 To be awarded to a student serving their community.
  • Matthew J Nena Memorial Scholarship - $1000 To be awarded to a student who has overcome a difficult situation.
  • Michael J Heaton Memorial Scholarship - A new guitar and $1000 to be used for one year of guitar lessons.
  • Bulldog Legacy Award Scholarship - $500 To be awarded to a graduating BHS football player with an exceptional work ethic.

Bulldog Legacy Award Scholarship

The Bulldog Legacy Award has been established by former Batavia High School football players of the 2017 State Football Championship Team. Our selection committee is grateful for the work ethic the football program has instilled in us. This scholarship is designed to recognize a player with an exceptional work ethic that inspired other players on the football team to be all they can be.


The Bulldog Legacy Award is chosen by a committee independent of BFEE.


The award shall be paid directly to the school the recipients will be attending and is non-renewable. The school may be a college, university, community college, trade, vocational or professional school. Recipients can also be awarded the award money if they plan on joining the military.

Matthew J Nena Memorial Scholarship

The Matthew J. Nena Scholarship has been established by his parents in loving memory of Matthew, who passed away on October 2, 2016. Matthew would have graduated with his classmates in May 2017, and this scholarship was first awarded starting with his graduating class. The scholarship is designed to honor college bound graduating seniors who have overcome a difficult situation in their life either academically, athletically, or personally.  

The Matthew J Nena Scholarship is chosen by a committee independent of BFEE.
 
The awards shall be paid directly to the school the recipients will be attending and is non-renewable. The school may be a college, university, community college, trade or vocational school, or a professional school.  

William Freiburger Memorial Scholarship

The William Freiburger Scholarship has been established by the Batavia Tennis Team and those who loved William. William passed away unexpectedly due to a cerebral aneurysm on February 20, 2018, during his Senior year at Batavia High School. William would have graduated with his classmates in May 2018, and this scholarship was first awarded starting with his graduating class. The scholarship is designed to honor college bound graduating seniors who embodied William’s love for others and serving in his community. 

The William Freiburger Scholarship is chosen by a committee independent of BFEE.

The award shall be paid directly to the school the recipients will be attending and is non-renewable. The school may be a college, university, community college, trade or vocational school, or a professional school.  


Molly Mae Vance Memorial Scholarship

The Molly Mae Vance Scholarship has been established in memory of Molly Mae Vance, Batavia High School honors graduate, class of 2012. This scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a student who is planning to pursue his/her post-secondary education at a four-year college/university, a community college, a technical institute, or an accredited trade school with a focus on public service, philanthropy, teaching or nonprofit management.

The Molly Mae Vance Scholarship is chosen by a committee independent of BFEE.
 
The award shall be paid directly to the school the recipients will be attending and is non-renewable. The school may be a college, university, community college, trade or vocational school, or a professional school.  

Michael A Bonifas Memorial Scholarship

The Michael A. Bonifas Memorial Scholarship has been established by family and friends of Michael. He died suddenly from a tragic fall on August 4, 2017 at the age of 23. Michael graduated from Batavia High School in 2011. Upon graduation, he attended The University of Kansas as a first-generation college student where he graduated with a marketing degree in 2015. He was employed as an account executive by FleishmanHillard in Chicago, Illinois. Michael is greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was the kind of young man who anyone would be proud to call son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin or friend.
The scholarship is designed to honor college bound graduating seniors of Batavia High School who are first-generation college attendees. 

The Michael A. Bonifas Scholarship is chosen by a committee independent of BFEE.

The award shall be paid directly to the school the recipients will be attending and is non-renewable. The school may be a college, university, community college, trade or vocational school, or a professional school.  

Michael Heaton Memorial Music Scholarship

A 1985 graduate of Batavia High School, Michael dedicated his life to writing and performing music. Respected by his peers, adored by his fans, and loved dearly by his family, Michael generously shared his musical talents to help countless worthy causes, municipal projects and individuals in need. Taken in the prime of his life, Michael’s memory shall live on through his music and the lives of the people he touched. He truly led a “Big Life.” 

The Michael Heaton Memorial Music Scholarship, which includes a full year of private guitar and songwriting lessons and a new guitar, will be awarded annually to the Batavia Jr. High/High School student who demonstrates similar qualities to those which Michael possessed.


The Michael Heaton Memorial Music Scholarship is chosen by a committee independent of BFEE.


The award will be paid directly to Music Matters and delivery of the guitar will be arranged with the student.
